Beach Clean-Up (Venice Beach): Part II

Here are some more pictures of the beach and our clean-up project. We worked with Heal the Bay, and we had mostly seniors on the trip. They had fun, but it does get monotonous to write down each little pice of garbage you pick up. They want to keep a tally of what the main litter consists of. By far, we picked up the most cigarette butts out of everything. Three teachers (including myself) easily picked up hundreds of them in the couple of hours that we were out there. The thing that most people don't realize about beach garbage is that the vast majority of it flows into the ocean from all of the drains all over the city. Lesson of the day: don't throw your trash on the ground! There is probably a garbage can nearby, and you could probably use the exercise (getting to it) :)
